Car Calendar – Privacy Policy

Overview

Car Calendar is a personal-use Android Automotive app that displays your Google Calendar events and lets you navigate to event locations. Your privacy is important, and this policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is handled.

Data accessed

Car Calendar accesses the following data from your Google account:

  • Google Calendar events (read-only) — event titles, times, locations, and descriptions for the next 7 days. This data is used solely to display your upcoming schedule and enable navigation to event locations.

Data storage

  • OAuth tokens are stored locally on your device in encrypted storage (Android EncryptedSharedPreferences). These tokens are used to authenticate with the Google Calendar API.
  • Calendar data is not stored. Events are fetched on demand and held only in memory while the app is running.

Data sharing

Car Calendar does not:

  • Send your data to any third-party server
  • Include analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind
  • Share your calendar data with any other app or service
  • Collect or transmit any personally identifiable information

All communication is directly between your device and Google’s APIs (Calendar API and OAuth2 endpoints) over HTTPS.

Permissions

  • Internet — required to communicate with the Google Calendar API.

Third-party services

The app communicates with the following Google services:

  • Google Calendar API — to retrieve your events
  • Google OAuth2 — to authenticate your account
  • Google Maps (on-device) — to provide navigation to event locations

Use of these services is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Data deletion

You can revoke the app’s access to your Google account at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data including authentication tokens.

Children’s privacy

Car Calendar is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

Any updates to this privacy policy will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
