The profile is designed to be called by file watcher so you never set those, but if you do want to run it manually, but the same info in the input and output files in DTB Gui.

Since I'm assuming "Convert MKV to DVR-MS" only works for MKV's, can you use the newer action called Convert avi or mkv to DVR-MS so that it peforms the same action on both file types? Then I can use that action for both since I use both in my input directory? I'm not really sure what might have changed toprevent the metadata from being imported.

You can't use the same profile for both MKV and AVI files because they are very different. The MKV profile is very fast and doesn't actually convert anything since WTV can contain h.264 and AC3. AVI on the other hand has to be transcoded to be put into a wtv or dvr-ms container.

So, why is there a new action called this in this version? Can you not configure this action to still convert both formats to dvr-ms? Its kind of odd that its there now if not. Does it actually try to transcode it then, or is it not capable of doing that?

They are profiles, which contain actions. The dvr-ms container can't hold H.264 video, so any MKV or AVI that has H.264 video would have to be converted to be put into a dvr-ms container. WTV can hold H.264, but not DivX or XviD and since that is the type of video in most AVI files, they have to be converted to MPEG2 anyways, so you can put it into a dvr-ms or wtv container.

You're best bet is to just download MKV files which are in HD and avoid the AVI files, then use the convert MKV to wtv, (or whatever it is called).

Ok I will do that. Unfortunately, I am still confused about what to put into Input file, what to put in Output File, & if I setup the File Watcher Tab correctly?  I have uTorrent place my shows into D:\Recorded TV\TorrentedTV. So I want the File Watcher tab to list that as the only "Watched Directories", correct? Above that field is the Output Directory, which I have D:\Recorded TV\ in that field. Does that sound correct? Your article didn't have a screen-shot of this tab so that part confused me. Also, "Process Exe" should be DVRMStoMPEG.exe, correct? I don't need the shows converted to MPEG do I? unless I want the CommercialSkip to work its magic on them correct? Or does that part matter? I tried playing the .mpg conversion in media center but now MC says its unable to play them...maybe because I installed teh Matrosky splitter.exe? I'm not sure if that disabled mpeg playback for media center? Is there a better codec plug-in to install that supports all of them?

I'm so tempted now to just totally uninstall, do a reg clean & start from scratch. Would it be possible for me to just send you screenshots of all the tabs to an email or something before resorting to that?

    thanks.

I was wondering, since you said it wasn't worth messing with the .avi downloads, why did you add this to your directions: "Repeat for AVI, but choose "Convert AVI to DVR-MS - mencoder" instead.
Click "Save" and use the "Raise Priority" button on the right to move it to the top.""?

That isn't necessary, the profiles are just dpc files, you can rename it and re-install and the installer will make a new one for you. They are stored in. C:\Program Files\dvrmstoolbox\profiles Have you tried the Convert MKV TV Show to WTV? That is the most recent and best profile to use for converting TV shows for MC.

Thank you for responding...I am attempting Convert MKV TV Show to WTV right now & its at the point: "Run C:\Program Files (x86)\DVRMSToolbox\Applications\todvrms.exe "D:\Recorded TV\TorrentedTV\Bones.S05E17.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.mkv" "D:\Recorded TV\TorrentedTV\-Torrents\DVRMSToolbox\DTBTemp\Bones.S05E17.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION.wtv" -wtv"

Once that finishes, I will try renaming the profiles & reinstall & let ya know the result.

What is the button "Save Output" do exactly? Does it save that profile as the default action or something?

If this test is successful, do I want to click the "Queue with FileWatcher" button, or does that happen automatically somehow already due to the conditions added in the Condition Editor window?

Save output simply saves the text log to a file. Queue with FileWatcher adds the job to the Fire Watcher queue instead of running it on demand. In my how to I explain how to watch a folder for new files, these then get processed by a profile based on conditions you specify by queuing them. The reason to queue jobs is so you can control how many run at the same time.

So the Queue with File Watcher is used if you want to run multiple instances of DVRMSToolboxGUI's Process File or Process Directory processes & have particular ones queued behind the other instead of running at the same time then?

Do you recommend installing the dtbaddin1006-r4 Addin?

    Or the ShowAnalyzer.exe?

Re: Converting only half the show

I am wondering if you'd mind showing me some screenshots of how I should have it setup...either via email, or facebook, whichever is easier for you? Visual images make it so much easier to understand what settings need to be set a particular way, especially since so many of the tabs have multiple boxes you can check for different options. I already FB'd you earlier today before we started discussing this here if you'd like to reply from there.

    Thanks again for your help.
