Toolbox running in Windows Home Server...

    Hi guys,

I've just setup up my new WHS and it's working great so far.  I've installed an add-in called TV Manager which pretty much moves all my Recorded tv (dvr-ms files)  from my two VMC machines into the shared Recorded TV folder on the server.

I've been using DVRMSToolbox for a couple years and let me say - I love it.  It's great that once it's setup it all automated.  Now, my issue is, and I've looked all over the forum and the net to see if there were any manuals or setup procedures for setting the toolbox up on the WHS.

I don't do any converting and smiply use it for skipping commercials (using the comskip plugin) My question is - is there a way once the TV show has been moved to the shared folder on the WHS to have DVRMStoolbox process it and create the skip files so that when I watch the shows on either of the VMC the commercials will skip?

I've been working on this for hours and haven't been able to get it to work...

    Any help would be apperciated!!!

    Thanks a ton!

    James

I'm in a similar situation as you however I've configured my VMC to record directly to WHS. I also can't get DVRMSToolbox to auto-process or manually process the recorded shows. I'd also appreciate it if someone can help us find a solution to this. Thanks!!

Has nobody got this to work?  If anyone can help I'd really aperciate it!!  I've been using the software for so long now that I have the WHS (I know im lazy but that's why we're all here) it sucks having to fast forward through the commercials....

    Any suggestions would be apperciated!

I'm not sure if this error log will help figure out what's wrong, but I tried manually processing the entire folder on the server of Windows Home Server and this is the typical error message I get... ----------------------------------------------------- Setting Priority = BelowNormal FileName = \\server\recorded tv\60 Minutes_WIVB_08_02_2009_18_58_03.dvr-ms InputFile=\\server\recorded tv\60 Minutes_WIVB_08_02_2009_18_58_03.dvr-ms Processing actions, this may take some time!!      dtb makes extensive use of directshow and the streambufferengine.  you need to ensure that both are installed and working on WHS.

    Thanks for the response.

I've installed FFDShow but where can find if WHS has the streambufferengine installed and if it does not where can I find it to download it>

THanks again for your awsome software and your help!!

you don't need ffdshow for anything btw.

you should be able to pull sbe.dll, quartz.dll, qasf.dll, etc off an xp machine run regsvr32 on them and have it work, but I've never tried it so I don't know if it will or destroy your WHS.

Hmmmm....I thought FFDshow had the Directshow filters?....

I've downloaded and regsrv32 the .dll's that you mentioned but still no joy.  I've installed PowerDVD and still nothing.  I keep getting the same codec error....I can't play a DVR-MS files on the server geez.....

Any more suggestions would be greatly apperciated!

I'll post something once I do get it to work with the settings that I've used...

Thanks for the advice. Just to clarify, my VMC is on my desktop computer which records to my WHS. Before I switched the recorded TV folder to WHS, DVRMSToolbox worked fine. I thought my desktop computer would still process the recordings the same way, only the recordings are now on the server instead. Is this possible? Thanks!

ffdshow is a directshow filter, it doesn't provide the underlying framework.

you can process files on WHS from a PC, but you may want to do the processing on the PC and use DTB to move it post processing.

I don't know how to make it work on WHS either, never tried to set it up (my WHS is a VM).

asides from sbe.dll, quartz.dll, qasf.dll, what else do you need to run regsvr32? I assume this is also for vista as well? I still can't get dtb to work again ever since i changed the recorded tv path to that on my whs. so frustrating!!

I have no idea, never tried to make it work properly on WHS.

Should work perfectly on Vista w/o crazy hacks
