    Rec TV...on my blackberry?

I bought a BlackBerry 8830 - it has a media player but wont take DVR-MS files.  I talked to tech support and they said:

"encoding to a different format (like 3gp) would work."

WHAT IS 3gp?  Can I convert using DVR-MS Toolbox?  Somoene on TGB told me DVR-MS toolbox has something set-up to get RecTV to BlackBerry format...

You can use Dtb to convert the DVR-MS format so it works on the 8830.  You will need to setup a custom dtb profile.  In that profile you will need to use the ffmpeg conversion action.  Then when you configure the ffmpeg action you will see a profile for the Blackberry 8830.

This won't produce 3gp files, but it does produce mp4 files that the Blackberry can play (I've used this profile on my Blackberry 8830 sometimes).

     Hope this helps.

I am using DVRMSToolbox version 1.1.0.7 for XP and I don't see what you are referring to :  "Then when you configure the ffmpeg action you will see a profile for the Blackberry 8830"

The plugin I was choosing was the "Durrant.Plugins.Ffmeg"

When I select this, I do not see an option for a BlackBerry 8830.

Can you please let me know how you are seeing this option?

    Try the Durrant.Plugins.ConvertWithFfmpeg option.

Convert with mencoder also has an avi small profile that works.  If you go to the c:\program files\dvrmstoolbox\applications\mencoder\mplayer directory (I'm guessing on the last part...it is a subdirectory of mencoder in any event...I'm at work so I can't check), you will see a .conf file.  If you open that in notebook, you can scroll through the profiles and their switches.  Look for one that has a 320x240 screen size...

I'm playing stuff on my pearl encoded with that profile and it is fine.

No, you don't need to download anything special, the convert with ffmpeg option is standard in 1107.  Sorry, I don't have any ideas, you might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling.  Otherwise maybe Babgvant has an idea.
