Best thing to do with processed files

What do people do with their processed files to prevent them being processed again? Currently I mark the files with the DVRMSToolbox version and use this with the condition editor to prevent them being processed again.
Is this the best way of working or should I use toolbox to move them to another folder?
If I move them to another folder is there a way of using the cleanup function to remove any XML files when I delete the main TV file?

I have some good profiles setup to automatically put shows recorded on PBS in a folder named after the TV show, convert any other WTV files to DVR-MS files and have setup the autorenaming movies script [movie (year)].dvr-ms and then afterwards commskip any of the previous files except the PBS ones. Then afterward I have the profiles put all the TV shows in a folders based on TV show names (e.g. H:\Recorded Vv\The Office). However if there's one operation or two I need to do in mpeggui I've found that the file watcher stops reviewing my Recorded TV directory, and I would like to know if my tv shows are processing by moving them to an "H:\Recorded TV\Processing Show" directory then afterwards put the shows in their "H:\Recorded TV\[TV Show]" folder but I can't figure out how to set the inputfile context to change the folder. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks.

Can anyone help me with automating as much as possible of this process? Monitor source directory for creation of sub directories Monitor each sub directory until no changes are noted Find the executable file within the sub directory and execute it Convert the resulting MPG into WTV Import an XML file from the subdirectory into the WTV file Copy the WTV file to recorded tv Delete the subdirectory if everything has worked correctly I am new to DVRMSToolbox so thought I'd ask on here rather than reinvent the wheel Thanks Kevin

Fix metadata, rename file & skip commercials

Some of the shows I record, particularly ones from the Science Channel, are sometimes missing metadata, namely Episode Title. I wrote a Powershell script to copy the Program Description data over to the Episode Title field, but I can't get that to run from a DTB profile. What I would like to accomplish in a single profile is:

Check if the Episode Title is blank, if so, copy Program Description to Episode Title
Rename the file to "Title - Subtitle"
Scan the renamed file for commercials

2 & 3 I know how to do, it's the first part that I either need the steps to do that inside DTB or how to get it to correctly launch the powershell script I already have.

Separate Commercial Find and Removal

HI, so what i am trying to do is to separate the profile that finds the commercials in the dvr-ms and then removes them into to. I have been playing with comskip and showanalyzer for a while and i cannot get the settings perfect (and i probably never will) so want i want to be able to do is to run comskip, then before the commercials are removed go into the commercial file and verify that it found the commercials in the correct places and then make an changes that may be necessary. I then want to be able to run a second profile that will use that commercial file and removed the commercials. The problem i am having is that the commercial finding works fine and i can modify the file and such, but the issue is when i run the second half it says the commercial file cannot be null. So basically I need to know how to tell the program to read in the commercial file that was created by another profile. Thank you for any help.

Is this possible if so guidence is welcomed

Hi Im having fun trying to write a profile to make my life easier it is almost two profiles in one you could say i will step it out what im trying to achieve File Input Example.wtv Convert this to Dvr-ms Output of this Example.dvr-ms this part is done after modifing the extra profile from here edited as I dont need add removel then convert Output from above to an mpeg i have been trying to uss the ffmpeg plugin in the profile section but this is where it errors as this needs an input and output Input Example.dvr-ms this was created earlier output Example.mpg Can this be done in one profile if so please guide me with what plugin to us as i know some how i have to set the old out from the comand line wtv converter to the input of the ffmpeg and let it now the new output.

Hi i am new to this but enjoying it so far i am writeing my own profile by looking and reading other included ones and three added from a forum linked from the green button my question or guidence needed is this in the included profile their is dvr-ms to mpeg this uses the entry "Convert Dvr-ms files with ffmpeg " I have look at the various actions that can be added but can not get that one what one is it and also what are any sub settings that i may need

Convert SageTV recordings to Zune/iPod/iPhone

This profile will create commercial-free h.264/AAC files in a MP4 container, which will playback on the Zune/iPod/iPhone/Core/TCPMP. In a nutshell, it does the following:

Scan the TV show file for commercials.
Use mencoder to create a new TV show file without the commercials.
Use Handbrake to convert the file from MPEG to MP4 (h.264/AAC).
Use AtomicParsley to write metadata to the MP4 file (e.g., show, episode, air date, etc.).
Use DTb to rename the show to a friendly format (e.g., “Fringe - 2008-12-03 - Safe.mp4″).
Use MoveOut to move the shows to the correct folders (if necessary).

Export XML for Video Browser

Hi,

I am looking for a way to export subtitle metadata into an XML file that can be read by Video Browser. It seems like it shouldn't be too difficult, I just don't know how to extract that information. I really like the automation of the Tools, but I lose all the show information upon transcoding and there isn't an easy way at the moment to incorporate season/episode data to utilize the multiple metadata aggregators available.

Work around Vista's "Incorrect duration bug" with FixDVRMSDuration.exe

Many Vista Media Center users have been affected by Microsoft's "Incorrect duration bug" since Vista was first released (getting close to 2 years ago now). For more information on this very annoying bug, have a look at this thread http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/286741.aspx. Microsoft has recently said they will "likely" release a patch to fix this issue in the next cumalative Media Center update. Until they do release a patch...

This bug randomly affects roughly 5-10% of my recordings and makes it so a 1 hour recording may only appear to be perhaps 7 minutes in length. It breaks the ability to reliably FF, RW, Skip, Replay and worst of all breaks automatic commercial skipping (the addin jumps to the wrong point in the show).

Andy produced an executable, FixDVRMSDuration.exe, that can be manually used to repair broken files. It can be downloaded here: http://babgvant.com/files/folders/misc/entry6485.aspx (note I included it in the attached .zip file since the syntax has changed slightly through revisions and my batch file was modified to work with the current version; it doesn't work with older versions and may not work with newer ones...).

Although there may be more elegant solutions, I created a custom profile condition (Execute Find Commercials and Fix Duration Bug), a custom profile (Find Commercials and Fix Duration Bug, named "FindCommFixDuration"), and a custom batch file ("FixDuration.bat") that detects recordings with incorrect durations and automatically repairs them. Note this has only been tested with Show Analyzer.

Key to this working properly, I wanted to ensure Media Center's scheduler considered that the repaired recording was actually the same recording. This way Media Center will abide by series limit settings, associate the recording with any series recordings, and be aware that the episode exists on the hard drive. Note that maintaining the link between the Media Center scheduler and the physical file was the most difficult part to get working properly and this is why I ended up using a batch file.

How this works:

Media Center records a show.
The custom profile condition (Execute Find Commercials and Fix Duration Bug) examines the show and if it appears to be short, it executes the custom profile (Find Commercials and Fix Duration Bug). Note that since DVRMSToolbox acts on files shortly after MC starts to record, that the custom profile actually runs on all recordings as they are recording. The only time it doesn't get used is if a completed recording is moved/copied into the Recorded TV folder from somewhere else.
"Find Commercials and Fix Duration Bug" does everything the same as the default "Find Commercials/nativecommdetect" profile, except at the very end it runs the custom batch file (FixDuration.bat).
FixDuration.bat first sets up a few variables (file names without quotation marks).
It then calls FixDVRMSDuration.exe, with a 1% file duration accuracy tolerance which creates a new ".fixed" file if the duration was out by more than 1%.
Finally it moves the "fixed" file over top of the original file and forces the fixed file to replace the original file. I found that this was the only way I could maintain the relationship between the Media Center scheduler and the recording. If I ever deleted the original recording or used a different file name for the "fixed" recording, Media Center would loose track of the recording (and often schedule it to be recorded again right away as well as ignore series limit settings, etc).

How to install:

Create a folder "C:\Utilities" and place "FixDVRMSDuration.exe" and "FixDuration.bat" in here.
Place "FindCommFixDuration.dpc" and "81497ecd-fb89-471b-99a2-91771ee4b1be.dcc" in the DVRMSToolbox profiles directory (default: "C:\Program Files\DVRMSToolbox\Profiles").
Launch the DVRMSToolbox Processing Condition Editor and make sure that "Execute Find Commercials and Fix Duration Bug" is directly under "Processed Files".

DVR-MS to Zune Profile

Ok, I'll be the first to upload one of my most used profiles for Dtb. I use this one to automatically do the following:

Use ShowAnalyzer to detect all commercials
Cut out commercials from the DVR-MS recording
Use ffmpeg to convert the file from DVR-MS format to MPEG format
Run the external program, Windows Media Encoder 9, to crop out the top two pixels of the recording (since they always seem to be noisy) and convert the MPEG file to WMV format
Copy the metadata (i.e., Show title, description, etc.) from the original DVR-MS file to the newly created WMV file.
Copy the new WMV file to my Zune sync folder.
Clean up by deleting all temp files, etc.

It all seems to work great, especially after I tweaked ShowAnalyzer slightly to identify all commercials being broadcast by my cable TV provider. I've also included the Windows Media Encoder 9 profile that I'm using for completeness. Hope someone can make good use of it!
