I have had DVRMSToolbox installed and working for a while. I had converted a few DVRMS files with it and cut commercials from them and it seemed to be working fine. A few days ago, i wanted to convert some files but found that DVRMSToolbox was no longer able to convert files, even ones it had converted before. Now every time i try to convert a file i get this error:

I tried updateing to the latest version of Toolbox (1.1.0.1), but i get the same error. I don't think i have done anything that would mess up Toolbox. I am running XP SP2 with all of the updates.

I've been thinking about your problem (I think there was one other person who had the same issue), and I think I might need to write a custom action to figure out what's going wrong.  If I have time tonight, I'll give it a shot.

Extract this file to your install directory.  It will place MiscAction.dll and MiscAction.pdb in your install dir and mscconverttompeg.dpc in the Profile dir.

From the GUI tool select your in/out files and then select the "Convert To Mpeg with MiscActions" profile from the list.

It will give a much more detailed error message when it fails.

How strange is this I have a pretty old version ,1.0.9.5 I am an extreem newbie

 and never completely learned all the ins and outs but have always been able to easily convert to mpegs and skip commercials -

I should learn about useing it more if you can recomend a site-

had to add more code to the dll, so I can see what GUID is causing failure.

just the dll and pdb in the zip, overwrite the one from yesterday, but leave the profile.

The error indicates that it cannot create the muxer filter. 

regsvr32 c:\system32\mpgmux.ax

then search the registry for BC650178-0DE4-47DF-AF50-BBD9C7AEF5A9 you should find it in HKCR\CLSID

I tried to register the file, but it said it couldn't be found. I searched for the file and it found it in system 32, so i don't know why it wouldn't register. I did find the registry key and this is what it showed:

It seems as if i got it to work in a hacked together sort of way. I went to the MCE computer, and copied the MpgMux.ax file and exported the registry key, then sent them to my computer over the netwrok. I put the .ax file in the system32 folder (overwriteing the one already there), and i added the registry key (also overwriting the old one). So far it seems to have worked since i am now able to convert to mpg files again. Thanks for the help. Now if only i could get DVR-MS files to play without needing to convert them.

EDIT: It seems as if that only fixed the DVR-MS to MPEG conversion. DVR-MS to WMV still doesn't work. I guess my system is really screwed up.

Is there something wrong with the recording maybe ?

I can watch it through MC-

But when i try to convert it to mpeg i get one commercial before the movie then it fails

when i convert it without commercials it fails right away

I tried to convert something else today to mpeg and it seemed fine
