There are different ways to control volume, LcdWriter emulates key presses it's also possible to set the system volume but it's much more involved.

Since MC shows the volume indicator it's getting the press, I can't speak to why it's not affecting the system volume - that seems like more of an issue with the build than LcdWriter.

If you want, we can try to sort that out - tell me how your system is setup (do you have an AVR, how is the PC connected, etc).

The motherboard is an Asus P8Z68Pro with an i3 Sandybridge Processor and 8 gigs of Kingston Ram. I am using Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium Edition.I have an HIS Video Card with HDMI out (HIS Silence H657HJ1G Radeon HD 6570 ) going to a Samsung 37" LCD TV. I also have a Hauppauge WinTv HVR 2250 installed. After the initial build I installed the M.Play software. Volume worked at that time. I then uninstalled the M.play Software, rebooted, installed LCD Writer 64 bit version and used the autodetect feature for the dll. It found Moncaso 320B. I then rebooted again. The remote would only do display Volume up when pressing the either the volume up or down keys, so I went into the key map and found that the volume down was set to volume up. I changed that to volume down in the keymap and then the volume display for Media Center worked correctly but did not change the system volume.

One more note. I am using the remote that came with the Moncaso 320B.

It doesn't look like my system specs went through in a previus reply. I have an Asus P8z68 M Pro motherboard, 8 gigs of Kingston Ram, 120 gig Samsung SSD boot drive, HIS Raedon Silence 6570 Video Card with HDMI out going to a Samsung 37" LCD TV. I am using Windows Home Premium 64 bit with Media Center. After inital install I installed the M.play software version 1.13 and volume control worked. The LCD would start flashing at random times so I uninstalled the M.play software, rebooted, installed LCDwriter, uysed auto detect in the setup config for the DLL. It found Moncaso 320B. I then rebooted and the remote worked with Lcdwriter except the volume control. The up volume key and and down volume key activate the Media Center volume displau but only up. I found that the the down volume key mapping in lcdwriter was set to up so I changed that and rebooted again. The volume display in Media Center then appeared to work but did not manipulate the system volume.

Do you have MC configured to output analog audio?

I released an updated rev of LcdWriter last night with johann's knob implementation and support for triple-tap, might be worth a shot to see if you can repro with it.

I don't know about the analog out setting. I will check. The system is at my girlfriends house so I won't be able to look until I see her later this week. I will give the new build a try and see what that does. I do have another question. I read in the forums that people are experiencing problem with the Media Center messages like Guide, Music etc. until they record something. I'm experiencing that as well. I didn't see where there was a resolution to this problem. any ideas there? Thank you Andy for your time helping me!

I'll check out that issue, I wasn't aware of it.

Andy, I resolved the volume control issue. It was an advanced setting under the AMD hdmi output called allow device exclusive control. Unchecking it restored volume control in media center. With this new version of lclcdwriter though all that displays is the timers and the date and time. I get no media center status messages such as music movies etc. Any ideas? Thanks Tony

You should see the timer (current position / duration) during playback, and the show title during recordings. I should make that configurable, just keep forgeting to do it.
