    .WTV -> MPG no commercials.

    Hello,

I have been reading for a while but I seem to be no further ahead. I need to get from .wtv to MPG and cut out commercials. Possibly I have to go through DVR-MS but that is ok.

    Windows 7 64-bit / DVRMSToolbox1223

What profile would do this? or what edits to I need to make to an existing profile?  Fiddling around I only managed to get from .wtv to mpg but couldn't remove the commercials. I would see no commercials found if I tried.

Essentially I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled and want to start again.  If there are any big brains who can help I would be grateful.

    thanks,

You do this using the DTBVideoEditor.  Make your settings Native Native (You'll see when you get in there).  Before you can do this you'll need to install AVIVO from the ati/amd website.  You can create a profile once you have everything setup in the editor.  This will cut the commercials and convert to mpeg.  If you need further help, let me know.

    Hello and thanks for helping.

I went over to the ATI/AMD site....scratching around I found a post hxxp://www2.ati.com/drivers/10-10_vista_win7_32-64_xcode.exe as an answer to someone asking where to find Avivo 10.10

If that's it, I installed it.

went to dtbvideoeditor and I see

    Target container MPG

    Video and Audio = Native

I'm assuming that's what you you meant....it told me to open a wtv file before I can save a profile....which I did.

If I am right so far...what's next?

    :-)

I guess, what's your goal now?  This profile that you just created should do what you want.

I ran a .wtv through the newly created profile and here is the output, no file is output.

You can't use comskip on a .wtv file, you have to have ShowAnalyzer Suite.  If your goal is to scan with comskip, there are other ways to do this.

ok thanks, I'm running it right now with showanalyzer but since that is $, could you elaborate on using comskip?  thanks.

Well your best bet is going to be to convert to dvrms and then scan for commercials on the dvrms and then convert to mpg.  If you need an example profile, I can post one up later.

Yes please, if you could that would be great.  'She who must be obeyed' wiil thank you.

Give the attached a try.  The mpg will be in the context "OutputFile" if you want to add a move condition.  You save the profile to your %ProgramFiles/DVRMSToolbox/Profiles folder.

Thank you! That worked a treat. I'll tinker and get the move condition added.

Out of curiosity 2 additional questions

     1. Can the leftover comskip & commerical skip files be auto-deleted on completion? I saw something in the settings with file extn for cleanup but it ignored one of them.

     2. Can comskips sensitivity be adjusted at all? I noticed on my test file it seemed a little agressive in so much it clipped  the end of the scene before a break.

I really appreciate your help, in Mrs. Stern_Howie's eyes I sunk a considerable amount of $ in to my OTA & recording setup....these are the last pieces of the puzzle.

    1.  What do you mean by comskip and commercial skip files (which extensions?).  Auto cleanup should do the trick.

    2.  Sorry, I won't be able to help with comskip settings, I can tell you that you might be able to get help from the comskip website.  Also, to make the changes you change the ini file in %ProgramFiles\DVRMSToolbox\Applications folder.

I found some info about comskip and added a "1" to the padding parameter. Worked well.

Things run well when I manually run the profile but when I use filewatcher it seems to be picking up another and using showanalyzer...? Somewhere I have to specify the profile you gave me?
