    Avivo install problem

Thanks for helping.  I successfully cut the commercials using profile:  'cut commercials, convert to mpeg', however the video remained in WTV format and was not converted to mpg.

I attempted to download and install the Fun w/Avivo .zip file but don't see the extracted files in the Dtb program folder and the 'convert to mpg using avivo' profile does not appear in the gui.  DTBVideoEditor returns the error:  'AVIVO must be installed to select this container' when MPG is selected as the target container .  TIA for any help.

You will need to install AVIVO from the ATI (AMD) website.

    sccrgoalie1:

You will need to install AVIVO from the ATI (AMD) website.

I've done so using this Avivo package from the ATI (AMD) website:   http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista32.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=&lang=us&rev=&ostype=Windows%207%20-%2032-Bit%20Edition#3

Same result as above:  still no profile option 'convert to mpg using avivo' in Dtb & DtbVideoEditor returns error:  "Avivo must be installed..." when MPG container target is selected.

I also tried downloading & unzipping (extract here) the 'WTV converter.zip' file offered here:  http://babgvant.com/forums/t/3995.aspx

As with the other Zip files downloaded earlier (profile.zip & profile (1).zip, the unpacked files do not show up in the relevent directory.

    Thanks for your help.

Do you have an ati video card?  If not you will need to manually register the necessary dlls.

See this thread.  You may want to try either way.

    Re: Avivo install problem [Solved]

sccrgoalie1:  Thanks for all your help on different threads, may all your games be shutouts!  :-)

I plan to buy an ATI video card for Xmas, but in the meantime I serendipitously discovered this on The Green Button forum:

" Re: Convert WTV to something else?

I hate to sound stupid... but has anyone tried right clicking on the "wtv" files? I have the Vista RC1 and just installed media buddy... nothing else... and when I right click, it has a button to "convert to dvr-ms". Then media buddy goes on ahead and converts the file that's been produced. Has anyone else noticed this? Wouldn't this solve the problem?"

And indeed, I discovered that Win 7 has this capability built in:  just right click on the .wtv file and along with the other usual options you will be offered:  'Convert to dvr-ms Format'.  It converted a 1hr TV program (3.6Gb) in about five minutes!  DVRMSToolbox can then be used to convert the file to, say, .mpg in the usual way.  Works for me 'till I get that skookum new vidcard... :-)

    Convert WTV to something else?

    Re: Avivo install problem

And this just in (again, found on The Green Button):  a handy-dandy gadget to automagically convert .wtv to .dvr-ms by calling up WTVconverter.exe (C:\Windows\ehome\):  http://wtvwatcher.codeplex.com/

You can automate this using the DTB as well.  See the profile posted in this thread.
