    ippytattoo:

The bug that I have encountered is that when you first power on the unit you get the initial welcome message then you get the date and time displayed. After initial startup but before you record a tv program either manually or automatically you do not get the status messages such as Media Center, Guide, Movies etc. Once you complete a recording or you start a recording and stop it manually you then get the status messages as usual. I

Have you messed with the session priorities?

    ippytattoo:

f you have to restart the unit or if you have to restart LCDWiterHost the process starts all over again. The other bug that I have noticed is that while watching tv all I get displayed is the count up timers and not the channel # and current time.

That's not a bug - it is intentional.

No I haven't changed anything. I just installed it and have been using it as it was installed by default.

OK, so using an ATSC tuner card with OTA HD broadcasting I should not see the channel information, got it. Now in regards to the media center status messages not being displayed, as per your suggestion, I tried playing with the session priorities, but that didn't seem to make any difference. The behavior I think we're trying to figure out is this; when you boot up and into WMC, instead of the LCD showing "Media Center" it continues to show "MM/DD HH:MM:SS". The "MM/DD HH:MM:SS" display persists no matter what section of the interface is brought up (Guide, Movies, Music for example) unless a recording is begun and stops. Once that happens then each area of MC then reports to the LCD correctly. Apologies if this is restating, but I just wanted to make sure that the behavior is clearly described and make sure this is the same problem the other posters to this thread are experiencing. I still have the additional logging going due to the "Object reference not set" error I've been intermittently getting so if you would like me to post a log from a successful LCDWriter initialization please let me know. Thanks again for your help! -Matt

Hi Andy, First of all I would like to thank you for a great program and I understand its free but by any chance can you try and add support for the volume knob? I would also like to know if their is any documentation/user guid that I can download? One last thing, is their anyway to make the date and time show when media center is in sleep mode?

    Thank you,

    Ray

You mean when the PC is in standby?

Andy or Matt - can you please confirm that this bug (display showing time/date only until a recording has begun and completed, the normal WMC messages are presented) has been resolved. I am looking to purchase this case but only if I know it can be made to function correctly!

Can you also confirm that when whatching TV a timer is shown instead of a channel ("The other bug that I have noticed is that while watching tv all I get displayed is the count up timers and not the channel # and current time."-ippytattoo "That's not a bug - it is intentional"-Andy)? If so why is this - it does not make sense me!

    Thanks! - ROB

The first feature you mention about "display showing time/date only until a recording has begun and completed" is still how the LCD behaves. This actually isn't bad, it would just be better if the LCD would show the Media Center messages, then timeout back to the date/time.

"Can you also confirm that when whatching TV a timer is shown instead of a channel?" -Yes, confirmed; my understanding is that functionality only works with SageTV, no OTA with WMC, but I could be mis-informed.

Hi I'm getting this behaviour on win 7 x64. The display works fine whilst recording. Any ideas what is causing it? Thanks

     Design?

Ok let me describe exactly what is happening and then you can tell me if it's by design.. :) Upon start mce will display date and time for everything except on playing music (shows duration) playing a recorded episode (shows duration) and live tv (shows how far into the show we are on the right and where we are in terms of watching on the left... Ie if we pause live tv the left counter pauses and the right counter carries on incrementing.) When a show is recording the display will show mediacenter, guide, recorded tv, music etc....when I go into the various sections of mce as per the priority that i set in the config.. And then music playing, recorded tv playing and live tv as above.... Is this expected behaviour? Please don't think I'm complaining as this made the display useable :) and I'm very pleased.

That is indeed how it works for me. Is it intentional? I really don't know, but since there have been no updates in nearly two years, I'd say its going to stay that way.
