Getting LCDWriter to work on Moncaso 320 and WMC

Hi: Admittedly, I am not the best at figuring out this technology. At this point, I am trying to figure out how to map the Moncaso 320 remote to use with WMC. Also, is there any documentation on the entire LCDWriter program?

Finally, do I need to uninstall M.Play to get LCDWrtier to work. I am getting all kinds of error messages?

    Thanks!

You don't need to uninstall M.Play, but you do need to make sure it's not running at the same time.

Did you follow the instructions here?

Yes, I did it like it's explained in the instructions.

I know I don't have to uninstall M.Play, only to 'rem' it in Registry in Run key, but I would like to use only LCDWriter, not M.Play anymore ... But LCDWriter doesn't handle volume knob.

I never added support for the knob.  Are you using analog output?

No, I'm using SPDIF, but it's sad that the knob cannot br used :)  Like I said in other post (btw I don't know why I replied to this thread, I was a bit confused today :-))  it would be even better if knob could be used like arrow keys and mute like ok key.

If it uses the same model as the IR device it will be easy to add support.  Will take a look next time I'm bored.

:) Looking forward to it ... And hope you'll post here if you make any changes about it.

Re: Getting LCDWriter to work on Moncaso 320 and WMC

    Andy,

I am new to this site, so I hope I have posted this in the right place!

I have recently built an HTPC based on the Mocaso 320 case, and the hardware assembled into the case pretty easily. (I can provide all the hardware details if anyone is interested.) I decide to install Windows 7 x64.

I have had a number of annoying software problems, probably the worst being the M Play software provided with the case to drive the remote control and the display. The most irritating aspect was a continually flashing display during and following any TV recording. The only way to stop this flashing, short of a reboot, was to halt and restart the M Play executable.

So I was very pleased to find your LCDwriter software, which is undoubtedly a great improvement on M Play. However, there is still one odd problem. I do not get any of the display messages from WMC7 (just the play duration times) until after I have made a TV recording. Once a recording has completed, or been stopped manually, the display starts to register correctly the status of WMC7 (Guide, TV, Photos etc). One can then stop and restart WMC7, and the display continues to work correctly. If I stop and restart LCDWriterhost it returns to the non-working state until a WMC7 TV recording has again been made.

Are you aware of this problem? Do you have a fix or workaround for it?

    Regards

I am also having the issue of not getting any messages until a recording is finished or stopped manually. My system is as follows:

    AMD Phenom II

    8GB DDR3 1333 ram

    Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I hope this helps to try and diagnose the problem.

Ha! until I read this and tried it, I didn't even know LCDwriter did this, but after testing it as above (record/stop recording) I am also experiencing this:

    Moncaso 320 LCD/IR unit

    Intel Core i3

    4GB DDR3 133 RAM

    Win7 Home Premium x64

Try this version of the display writer.

    Andy,

This version doesn't seem to display the Media Center status at all, even after doing a record. It just shows the duration of the play/recording. (Did you mean to just send a dll?)

    Regards

    Steve

    Windows 7 Home premium x64, Asus P7P55-M, Intel Core i5 760

Yes.  The dll just swaps the line that is written.

Maybe I don't understand what the problem is.

Andy,I have switched back to the earlier dll, and have noticed an additional ‘feature’ which might be a clue to the nature of the bug. After a recording has been made, and the WMC status is being correctly displayed, the little RECORD flag at the top of the display remains on. It remains on until a reboot (or a LCDwriter restart).RegardsSteve PS – If you don’t have ready access to a 64bit OS and would like to insert some diagnostic writes, I will be happy to send you back a diagnostic output file.

The bug that I have encountered is that when you first power on the unit you get the initial welcome message then you get the date and time displayed. After initial startup but before you record a tv program either manually or automatically you do not get the status messages such as Media Center, Guide, Movies etc. Once you complete a recording or you start a recording and stop it manually you then get the status messages as usual. If you have to restart the unit or if you have to restart LCDWiterHost the process starts all over again. The other bug that I have noticed is that while watching tv all I get displayed is the count up timers and not the channel # and current time.

I don't know if the OS has anything to do with it but I am running Windows 7 Ult. x64. I would be willing to install x86 flavor in order to test and see if there is any difference in what is displayed on the display.
