Cannot install latest version - reg key error

    reg key errorHello,

I am able to install and uninstall version 1.2.2.0  fine  , but when I try to install 1.2.2.1 I receive a reg key error which I have posted a picture of. I have checked in the registry and that actual key does not exist.

     reg key error

Can this be fix or worked around?

    Thank you

I've never seen that error before...

Does the key exist?  If so, what are the permissions on it?  Can you delete it (export it before trying)?

     Hi Paul,

The first mentioned key does exist (the one that begins with  "A8cd4..."), but the  one is mentions underneath it does not.I did modify the permissions of the "A8cd4..." key to allow full control of the users group, but the install stiall failed.

Inside the keys there is data like this: >msvcr90.dll\Microsoft.VC90.CRT,version="9.0.30729.4148",type="win32",processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"

Is deleting these keys goig to affect any other programs or just this one?  Thanks.

Re: Cannot install latest version - reg key error

Deleting the keys probably isn't a great idea given what's in them.

I searched the reg hive on my dev box and the found A8CD4AD91379E0F3B85DCF71AC8684DA in

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\(USERSID)\Components\

Is it in the same location on your box?  One strange thing is that in the screenshot "UNKNOWN" is where the user sid should be.

     Hi Bob,

I have tried to follow the instructions at the link you provided, but from what I can see, I am still getting the same result. It is odd.

    Thanks though,

    Dave

Have either of you solved this issue?  I too am seeing this on my Windows 7 box.
