I've Googled around and can't seem to find anything like this except for one site where it says that ffmpeg might be the culprit.  However, either I can't figure out where the new ffmpeg is supposed to go or I just don't know how to install it.

Files are coming out very small (this last one was 50MB on the money).

I am using Windows 7 64bit and DVRMSToolbox 1.2.1.9.  The original file was recorded using WMC and converted from .wtv to .dvr-ms with todvrms.

Re: DVR-MS to MPEG not working

The problem here is with ffmpeg.  You can try using ConvertVideoFile to go straight from WTV->MPG, but you will need to install AVIVO to make it work.

Ok I installed AViVo and Haali.

In DTBVideoEditor I try to convert to .mpg.  It says that it has to be in MPG video and AC-3 audio - however in the video tab I can't find an option for MPG video.

Also, if I try to convert to .avi it just says "Error in do work - invalid pointer."

(I'm assuming that ConvertVideoFile is a part of DTBVideEditor cause I sure can't find it anywhere else).

Ok, I installed Avivo and Haali.

In DTBVideoEditor I still can't get it to convert.  Trying .mpg tells me that video needs to be in MPG video and audio needs to be in AC-3.  AC-3 is easy enough but in the video tab I can't find an option for MPG.

Trying .avi, I just get a "error in do work - invalid pointer."  I'm guessing I'd need an encoder for that but I can't remember offhand which one it is.

(I assume ConvertVideoFile is part of DTBVideoEditor cause I sure can't find it anywhere else in the program and a quick search seemed to point to it being part of DTB).

Ok, it converted but the video is very stuttery and there is no audio.

Re: DVR-MS to MPEG not working

What are you using to play the mpg file? Have you tried testing w/ VLC (removes bad directshow filters from the mix).

Yeah, VLC is all I use for video.
