My basic problem is that I don't know what I'm doing!
I record TV with Vista WMC:
only when I cannot use my normal DVD recorder (separate from PC)
if I need to record two programs that immediately follow each other.
Owing to the uncertainty about TV start/finish times, I begin recording at -5min and finish at +15min.
I use Nero to crop to actual start/finish, split programs (where required), remove ads and burn to DVD - ALWAYS loose audio/video synch 'cos dvr-ms files not fully supported by Nero.
Solution - use DVRMSToolbox to convert to mpg (later I will try the bells and whistles), then use Nero?
I get the following message when trying to DVRMStoMPEGGUI a 10min test recording:
