    Problem with LCDWriter

I have a problem with LCD writer. Works great until I fire up one of my extenders with VMC. Then display goes blank. Stop/starting Lcdwriter service seems to correct it until another extender connects. Any idea on a fix?

    Thanks Steve

Try uninstalling LCDWriter, then installing it just for you (not everyone).

I removed the program, rebooted and reinstalled just for the Administrator account (default auto login account). Same results. As soon as an extender connects it kills the display.

I even tried changing the LCDWriter service to only run as the Administrator account and not run as system. Same results LCDWriter works until a extender connects then blanks. I can stop/start the service and it comes back.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Re: Problem with LCDWriter

i think the problem is that the msas sink is getting loaded for the extender user, but that shouldn't happen if it is isntalled just for the PC account...

unfortunately I don't have an extender so there's no way for me to try to repro/fix this.

I checked and while the extender is connected ehmsas.exe service is started a second time for user mcx1. Any way to prevent this from starting or telling LCDWriter which copy to connect to get MC status?

Iif you're using dtb then ehmsas needs to run. There isn't a way now, I'd need to add that.

Nothng installed except LCD Writer. I have not installed DVRMToolbox (assuming that is dtb). This is the TV pack version of VMC.

    in that case.  see if

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service,  AlwaysUseFPD

is present, if it is delete it.
