    Is 1.2.1.4 only for Vista?

    Been a happy user of DTb and SA for years, and I installed 1.2.1.4 on a new MCE2005 build, but several things wouldn't work.  After wasting some time trying to diagnose the problem, I replaced 1.2.1.4 with 1.1.0.8, and everything seems to be working.  So if 1.2.1.4 is only intended for Vista, it wasn't apparent from the download page.

    1.2.1.4 is intended for VMC and SageTV running on any windows platform.  I created a manual install for the stuff that won't install on xp so you should be able to get the good stuff from 1.2.1.4 and still get the addin to work.

    I haven't done too much testing with this config, so if it doesn't work let me know and we can figure it out.

    There won't be any more development in the XP branch.

    Ok, thanks for taking the time to reply.  Now I understand what the MCE Plugin Only is all about, and I may give that a try since I will continue using 2005 for awhile.  I did try Vista for a week, and it is pretty, but I couldn't get over the sluggish menu response (too much for my old 3gig P4)...

    This is what I was looking for, but the link on the download page is broken (please fix).  I have all of 1.2.1.4 working on XP except for the MCE add-in.

    Thank you,

    Re: Is 1.2.1.4 only for Vista?

    I too wanted to try this out on my MCE2005.  I installed 1.2.1.4, rebooted, installed MCEAddin, rebooted, and gave it a try.  Addin didn't seem to work.  If I try to turn on/off autoskip I get no indication on screen. I also get the following error in the Event Viewer...

    =============================================
    Source: CommercialSkipAddIn
    User:
    Unable to launch. System.Exception: Could not initialize MceState
       at babgVant.MediaCenter.MceState.MceStateConsumer.MceState..ctor()
       at babgVant.MediaCenter.CommercialSkipAddIn.CommercialSkip.Microsoft.MediaCenter.AddIn.IAddInEntryPoint.Launch(AddInHost host)

    For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
    =============================================

    I also get the following immediately after...

    =============================================
    Source: CommercialSkipAddIn
    User:
    Unable to uninitialize. System.ObjectDisposedException: Cannot access a disposed object.
       at System.Threading.ManualResetEvent.Set()

    For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    Note that the "DVRMSToolboxService" successfully starts.

    The following services are displayed in the task manager:
    DVRMSFileWatcherService.exe
    DVRMStoMPEG.exe

    Tried to manually register using RegSvr32 but get the following error...

    C:\Program Files\DVRMSToolbox\MceState.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.
    This file can not be registered.

     try using regasm instead (there should be a cmd file that includes the necessary commands),

    Re: Is 1.2.1.4 only for Vista?

    That worked for registering but I still have the problem.  Also noticed that there are no commercial xml files being created since I installed 1.2.1.4.

    I don't want to waste any more of your time with this. I'm going to go back to the proper 1.1.0.8 version and some day I'll upgrade to Vista and try again.  Thanks for your help.

    BTW: You never know what you're missing until it's gone.  Two days without commersial skip is enough for me.   Thanks for providing this product - this is by far the best add-in you could have for Media Center.

    Are you sure you want to do that?  I don't mind sorting this out with you...

    If the xml files aren't getting created take a look at the logs, they should indicate what's going wrong.

    I have re-register and they all say they are successfully, but I still get the same two errors in the event viewer as SammyD?????

     did you reboot (or kill ehmsas.exe)?  if the sink is registered properly, it will write an event when it loads.

    My system reboots every morning. The following service did load...

    DVRMSToolboxService: Service started successfully.

    I rebooted. When I load and unload ehmsas.exe manually I do not get any event on log. When I load MCE I get the error event.

    SammyD, did you modify anything else to get it working?
