    No commercial skipping in x64 w/1.2.1.4

    I haven't had any luck getting commercial skip to work at all. FW is running and processing files and outputting .xml files, but when played in VMC, there isn't any skipping. Anyone else having this problem?

    Well now that there is a 1.2.1.4 version out for Vista x64, I am having the problem of no commercieal skipping. I enabled to write to the event log and everytime I start up VMC, I dont even see the commercial skip addin come up on the event viewer. I checked to make sure all the .dlls are in the correct folder and the xml files are being created but I think the essential problem is that commercial skip addin isn't even showing up in the event viewer. I have already unistalled and reinstalled and still no luck. I am running Vista x64 Ultimate.

    Might be missing it but not sure how that thread helps?

    Anyway, I'm having the same issue.  Seems the DVRMS service isn't loading. I had a similar issue with an older version and going through the manual install process seemed to resolved that.

    Problem is I'm not seeing the manual install files out there anywhere.  Looks like it's a bad link.  Andy can you confirm?  I maybe looking in the worng place.

    Thanks for you support and fantastic product.

    I also dont see how that thread fixes the problem that I am having. I'll go into further detail, hopefully that will give anyone that can help a better idea of what the problem is. So before I updateed to 1.2.1.4 I had the latest version before that and I had a problem with the commercial addin. To fix it I followed the instructions in this thread:

    http://babgvant.com/forums/p/1281/6805.aspx#6805

    So opon updating to 1.2.1.4 I did the same troubleshoot procedure when the skipping wasnt taking place. I enabled the commercial skip addin to write events, but every time I open VMC, the commercial skip addin does not show up, not even with an error.

    The x64 bit from this download link http://babgvant.com/files/folders/dvrmstoolbox/entry10410.aspx is identical to 32bit. I guess there is no more need to troubleshoot until we have a real x64 build.

    I'm waiting for real x64 build...

    In .net there is not such thing as an x64 or x86 build (unless you're doing unsafe things with pointers).  The only difference b/w the x86 and x64 builds is the installer config.

    I just uploaded 1.2.1.5, it has some x64 specfic workarounds.

    Re: No commercial skipping in x64 w/1.2.1.4

     1.2.1.4 x64 at http://babgvant.com/files/folders/dvrmstoolbox/entry10410.aspx appears to be identical to 1.2.1.4 at http://babgvant.com/files/folders/dvrmstoolbox/entry10409.aspx. The file sizes and creation dates are the same in the zip files, so I compared them with a hex editor and they are indeed byte-for byte identical. Can you check that? I'm still running 1.2.1.3 (x64) with no problems, but was just curious to try the new version. When I try to install it craps out with the following error:

     The following properties have been set:
    Property: [AdminUser] = true {boolean}
    Property: [ProcessorArchitecture] = AMD64 {string}
    Property: [VersionNT] = 6.0.1 {version}
    Launching Application.
    Using MsiInstallProduct with package path 'D:\dl\DVRMSToolbox1214\DVRMSToolbox1214.msi' and command line ''
    MsiInstallProduct returned '1638'
    Error:

    That's from running the setup.exe. If I try the MSI it tells me to uninstall the previous version but I'm reluctant to do that since it's working fine with a few insignificant issues. Also I can't try 1.2.1.5, no EA :(

    Anyway thanks for a great product Andy, you've saved my family tons of time for a couple of years now.

    spockers:

    Property: [ProcessorArchitecture] = AMD64 {string}

    the only difference is the target platform for the installer (I mentioned that before).  You could copy the contents of program files (x86)/dvrmstoolbox into program files/dvrmstoolbox and it would run as a native x64 process.  of course you'd need to change some registry keys to make it work right.

    you must uninstall previous versions before installing an updated rev.  that is intentional (I leave the product id's the same).

     Ah OK, thanks for the quick response, and I mean QUICK, I wasn't even finished editing my post when you replied, LOL. I'll try uninstalling first.

    Oh it runs as a 64-bit process anyway, even though it's in program files (x86). At least I assume it does, there's no *32 next to it in taskmgr.

     I am still having no luck with commercial skipping in this current version. I have followed the troubleshoot procedure and my main concern is that when I enable log writing for the commercial skip addin, it never shows up in the event viewer. Is anyone else having the same problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it or what I should do? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled several times.

    does ehexthost.exe startup when you open MC? make sure "write events" is selected in the settings tool, if the addin crashes it won't write the debug log.

     Im assuming that you are talking about a process in the windows task manager and i checked before and after starting up MC and it wasnt in the list.
