    DVRMSToolbox still uses comskip

    hey babgvant and others,

I've had some trouble with DVRMSToolbox still using comskip when I have a registered version of SA on my computer....it's frustrating because I'm running DFW and everything like that.  I'm on vista 32, and SA still works normally.  I have uninstalled, reinstalled and done everything in my power so far, the main issue is that since DTb is using comskip (and I don't want to instal the new version of if) it still hangs up...I just want SA to work with DTb.  Any suggestions.  no rush on this one, final next week...shouldn't be watching TV anyway.

Try run external.  If you search the forums you will find lots of information on how to do it.

Well...this time I reinstalled it, but didn't include the instal of Comskip because I'm tryuing to see if I can just do the normal commercial skipping stuff without having to run through comskip, I don't know what made this happen, but it's annoying as heck.

    Hey.

I wanted to let you know that I am having a similar problem with DVRTB 1.2.1.2. I tried re-installing it after installing SA 0.9.7., and it still does the ComSkip process after registering and setting preferences to SA.

There is a solution I found for the one problem, but I get another problem afterwards. Please go to www.dragonglobal.org/downloads, and download ComSkip Proxy... and it'll allow SA to process as a substitute. Please replace the comskip.exe in Program Files of DVRMSToolbox, with that one, and that should give you the solution to at least letting SA process.

Now for the record, after doing that, is where I run into my problem. It processes quickly, because it says that No Commercials are Found... when I see otherwise, and I don't know how to have the DVRTB program detect it.

Just as another note, my files were working with SA process - when my trial was considered, but after that, I haven't been able to figure out how to get SA to process... I'm certain that based on what I read, that'll be fixed in the next version, but that could be another month at least before its ready.

If anyone knows the trick, reply to this post. Again, I'm looking for the trick to have it detect the commercials and/or set up SA in DVRTB.

    Thanks,

    Gregory

doesn't work for me either...I see the problem, but can't fix it...it is still getting a "worker" ready for it, and still wants to use comskip.exe, but since comskip.exe isn't the same...it won't use it normally.  Like I said...I see the problem, but ton'd know how to fix it.

     EDIT:

I just updated the comskip.exe...it works now...but I paid for SA....I tried changing the find commercials in DVR-ms and made it so that it used SA, and that STILL didn't work.  I can get the commercials removed, but yet again...I paid for SA.

    Hey,

I hope my advice helped you... I think it might have, but I don't know.

If you're problem is resolved, I'd appreciate you telling me how you got ComSkip.exe to detect the commercials, and remove them.

I think we'll be able to see a fix in the future release, which is why the author is taking his sweet time to give us a public build - I hope, but I can't really wait too much longer with no results!

Can you tell me what you did to make ComSkip.exe detect the commercials. Did you use the Proxy? That's what I'd like to do.

Please post with the steps you've done, which I might pick up... because all I know is Comskip doesn't work for jack... when it comes to cutting them out. I'm in DVRMSTB 1.2.0.2 and with ComSkip 0.79.143.

P.S., after telling me the steps, tell me if the Proxy works with it... I'd like to possibly trick the system into using the substitute - to go faster and use what I paid for a year ago.

    Thanks,

    Gregory

Well...the proxy doesn't work, it just makes it seem like it should work, but...what you can do is download the zipped up package of comskip (the latest release which is on the Downloads page of this site) and use that by copying and pasting the .exe file where you put the proxy "fix"  Basically, what's happening is that since DVRMSToolbox wants to use comskip, it's initializing the necessary workers and such to do it.  I've just been using SA on files before I watch them on my 360 Extender because I know it won't take long for SA to go through it and it's almost always working, it's a pain, yes, but...it's guaranteed to work for me, plus I'm getting my money's worth out of it.  but...DVRMS File Watcher still uses comskip rather than SA, so it's a partial fix, but not the one I wanted it to be at this point.  It'll work until I have time to actually mess with it

so, all you have to do is copy the comskip.exe file to the Applications folder in the DVRMSToolbox Program Files folder and just wait for babgvant and crew to send out a fix for it.
