Can't get DTB to convert recordings to mpeg(or anything else)1102, mce2005

    The error I'm seeing is:

    -----------------------------------------------------

Processing actions, this may take some time!!

    I've followed the troubleshooting guide

Made sure rollup2 was installed (wasn't initially and was hoping that was the issue, but no go)
I made sure to register the dll from the guide

    Q.  What does "COM object with CLSID {3EBC8DFD-87ED-4E41-B02A-ADC97C0F8FC1} is either not valid or not registered" mean?
    A. One of the ways that DTb converts dvr-ms files to the wmv format is by using dvr2wmv.  The GUID listed above is the identifier for that component.  To resolve the issue, dvr2wmv needs to be registered.  This can be accomplished by installing the full dvr2wmv application or by registering dvr2wmv.dll found in the install directory (run regsvr32 "c:\program files\dvrmstoolbox\dvr2wmv.dll").

It indicated that it registered successfully

not sure exactly what I"m missing here

    That's the GUID for mpgmux.ax.  Try running regsvr32 c:\system32\mpgmux.ax:

    file was actually in C:\WINDOWS\system32\MpgMux.ax

registering was successfull, but still didn't fix the issue

    now the error is

Error in Do Work - COM object with CLSID {BC650178-0DE4-47DF-AF50-BBD9C7AEF5A9} is either not valid or not registered.

for what it's worth tho, all my latest recordings, the commercials are being skipped properly!

they're just not getting converted to MPEG

only have 1 version of it installed, but it's definitely not the same version that's listed in the other thread.   I googled a bunch, but didn't see a simple place to download an updated version

    EDIT:

Ok, I ended up downloading and installing something called LifeView DTV

soon as that was installed (and rebooted) was able to convert to mpeg (well, i'm assuming it worked at this point, it is processing at least now ;) )

clicking on the new MPEG file now immediately crashes windows explorer

    any ideas?

AutoConvert can be dl'd from TGB.  I don't know what LifeView DTV is...

If you have problems registering the files with Vista, try the following:

    1) Open notepad, and paste the following:

    regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\MpgMux.ax

    regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\cldump.ax

     2) Save the file as reg.bat

    3) Right click the bat file, and choose run as Administrator.
