Please help this Grandma convert without commercials

For Christmas I bought myself a new hp running Windows Vista. I would like to record TV from Media Center and convert without commercials.  I downloaded DVRMSToolbox For Vista - 1.2.1.0 and followed the instructions as given here: http://babgvant.com/Wiki/view.aspx/DVRMSToolbox/Install

In my Start Menu I have DVRMST Toolbox and Dragon Global could someone please give me some easy step by step directions in laymans terms on how to convert without commercials the TV shows I have recorded in Media Center so I can burn to a DVD and watch on TV.

P.S. Is there a better format than another to convert to for playing in a DVD player.

Thank you for being so kind to help me!

    My computer if it helps:
    hp Pavillion
    Intel Core2Duo
    2GB Ram
    nVidia graphics card

Someone will likely point you in the right direction, but you might want to consider using a media center extender (like an xbox 360) to stream the video you've recorded on your PC to your TV.  Seems like it would be worth the $280 - $350 to avoid having to burn a DVD everytime you want to watch a show.

Read more about the media center extender experience here: http://www.longtail.com/the_long_tail/2005/11/first_take_xbox.html

And you'd have an XBox 360 for every time the grandkids come over :)
