EDIT!: The 1.2.1.0 version of dvrms seems to have fixed the issue with the toolbox not responding. try the latest version!

Got some information from the event manager. Also, when I tried to install to "Program Files" instead of "Program Files (x86)" I got and install error. all programs are installed in the (x86) folder.

I have a CLSID folder, but no {D9FEC5A0-0295-43F3-B4F8-E4E07A9F9FC7}

my registry goes from  {D9F9C262-6231-11D3-8B1D-00C04FB6BD3D} to {DA317BE2-1A0D-37B3-83F2-A0F32787FC67}

ok, i added the registry file you were looking for, i found it in one of your solutions to another persons thread, and i renamed the directories to point at the program files(x86) folder, then i ran your "%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\installutil "c:\Program Files (x86)\dvrmstoolbox\mcestate.dll"" code, and that completed. i fired wmc up and i'm not getting any errors.

um, how do i see if its working? lol 

ok i started playing an episode of scrubs, and a pop-up came saying that there weren't any commercial files for the show, and asked if i would like to analyze, i clicked "yes"..

how do i know when it's done reading the show?

I went to install the newest version 1.2.0.9 onto my 64 bit Vista Ultimate, only to receive the "the commercial skip plugin has stopped working" error. After about 4 months of troubleshooting I've found a way to install that works :).

Grab the x64 edition installer of 1.2.0.9. Install all of the programs under the "Program Files (x86)" folder. Select "Modify File Preferences" when the choice comes up. Install all of the selectable programs.

After installation is complete restart your computer. For some reason the installation doesn't produce a registry entry that needs to be inserted, so we are going to do it manually.

make a registry file (right click desktop > new  text document) and paste the following.

now save it as "registryentry.reg" or something of that nature. the icon should change on the file on your desktop, and when you double click it it will ask if you want to enter it into the registry.

go to your task manager (ctrl + alt + del) and make sure that ehmsas.exe isn't running. start an elevated command prompt (hit the start button, type in "cmd", right click on the icon and hit "run as administrator".

enter the following

now restart your computer once again, and fire WMC up. If everything works the same way mine did, you shouldn't receive any errors, and the co skip plugin should be working fine.

I was using babgvant's awesome program back when I had MCE2005.  Ever since I upgraded to vista x64 I haven't been able to make it work again.  This install method works PERFECTLY!
