Filewatcher never seems to create mpeg file

The watcher service is running and I have a task bar icon. I can go into MediaCenter and make recordings. I have verified the dvr-ms files are in the recordedtv directory. but nothing appears in the output directory. Nor can I click on any of the options on the task bar icon except exit.(show log, clear log) greyed out.

I have verified I can manually create mpeg files by running the gui. Do I need to set some default values? I did set the watcher delay of 5 minutes to 1 minute. Nada, nothing, zip.

I am running the latest mediacenter 2005 with the rollup. All other add-ins I have used work.

the fw should create a log file for every show it picks up. is this happening? if so, what do they contain?

Re: Filewatcher never seems to create mpeg file

I see no log files.Nothing in temp dir, or output dir

Also on the task bar your app, shows all options except exit as greyed out. Even the configure button is greyed out.

I did a quick test, by terminating the watcher service, and re-running it from your startup folder link. Right away I get a empty box saying "configure" in the title. My only option is to close it. And then the task bar icon also goes away.

if it helps, during manual processing I have an error also.

Using manual file processing it works fine, and the video is very good quality.

but if I use the tool from the gui using directory processing it fails with this log info...

    InputFile=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV
Processing actions, this may take some time!!

    System.IO.FileNotFoundException: File not found
    File name: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV"
       at Durrant.Common.lows.GetMetaTags(String DvrmsPath, Boolean showError)
at Durrant.Common.ConsoleBase.ConsoleMain(String[] args, String sDescription, String sAdditionalParams)

There are several dvr-ms files in there...

maybe something related to directory processing...

    Found the log files..

Ran FileMon to see what files are being written by filewatcher, which led me to find both the log files, and the events that are failing. here is a report....

you have to select the directory tab to process a folder.  also, if you double click on the fields you can get a file/folder dialog that will ensure that proper input is selected.

    Solved...

I removed show analyzer from the system. And selected comskip instead.

    Show analyzer was crashing.

But did not cut a new mpg into the directory I specified.

Which was because the condition editor was not set for it. Works now...

Re: Filewatcher never seems to create mpeg file

I'm having a similar issue in XP MCE. The filewatcher's running in the background. Input/output files are selected. There are shows in the watched folder and I've even added more recently all to no avail. I don't get an error message or any output of any kind. I don't have a problem if I do a manual conversion. Am I missing something?
