    continued 1.1.0.6 problems...

    First off...thank you for the heads up on SA.  Purchased my copy last night.  I was happy with comskip, but with the problems I've been having with 1.1.0.6 and comskip (see other thread) I figured I would just spend the $10 and get SA.

    I'm happy with the purchase, but I can't get things to work correctly with 1.1.0.6 and SA.  So I am running 1.1.0.5 along with SA flawlessly.  There really seems to be something up with 1.1.0.6, at least on my system.

    Basically, when using 1.1.0.6 I see DVRMStoMPEG.exe fire up and it just runs and runs and runs.  When I check the log file in the FWLogs directory, I see the percentage move up, then start over, then move up, then start over.....I left it running for over an hour on a half hour show.

    I then uninstalled both SA and 1.1.0.6, cleaned the directories under program files and installed 1.1.0.5 along with the SA it has bundled.  I then have it process the same exact show I was using with 1.1.0.6 and it fires up and finishes in just a couple of minutes.  (The speed of SA makes the purchase totally worth it!)

    Anyway...I know there were no answers for my comskip issue, but something is up.  This is on a basically clean build of XP MCE with ALL Windows updates (I say basically because its the same new build I was using from the comskip testing in the other thread).  Im using the Nvidia MPEG decoder (although Im not sure your app even uses it).

    Seems to me that something must have changed in the way you fire off the commertial skipping software between 1.1.0.5 and x.6.

    Consider this post as more of a bug report than a beg for help.  1.1.0.5 is working great for me.  If you can figure out whats up with x.6, awsome, but honestly I'm just so greatful for the application in general no worries.

    BTW....as I tell my story about how much this app is appreciated, and how I went out and purchased SA, I thought to myself...."SA isn't what makes this great...its DVRMSToolbox that I appreciate!"  As such, I just made a donation using the make donation link on the home page.  You deserve it!  Thank you....

    it's really strange that 1.1.0.6 doesn't work for you... none of the stuff that doesn't work changed b/w releases...

    Re: continued 1.1.0.6 problems...

    i have a similar issue after upgrading to 1.1.0.6, previously i was using 1.1.0.4 and everything was fine

    everything works fine for the most part, the problem as i see it is with the filewatcher and its call (shelling) to comskip

    for example, last night i recorded damages on FX, i woke up this morning and found the following:

    a job in FWJobs, a log in FwLogs, and 2 text files in Recorded TV all associated with that specific recording of damages

    then looking at task manager, there was one instance of DVRMStoMPEG and one instance of comskip running, however neither was doing anything (for 12+ hours)

    i ended the comskip task and then everything completed as it normally would, the files were pretty much cleaned up but there was no xml file in CommercialsXml

    then i took a look at the log file and saw the following:

    Waiting to process file
    Queue file
    Duration = 01:14:30.6690783
    Waiting to process...
    Processing now...
    Find Commercials in file
    Using comskip
    Running comskip this may take a while.
    Shelling 'C:\Program Files\DVRMSToolbox\Applications\comskip.exe "E:\Recorded TV\damages_fx_02_10_2007_23_02_02.dvr-ms" '

    Finished Commercial Detectection
    No commercials found
    Action did not complete successfully
    Total Duration = 12:56:39.3919361

    also, if i manually run (ie. not depending on the filewatcher) find commercials on damages everything completes without any problems, a xml file is created and the comskip addin works perfectly .. so as far as i can tell it's something minor and to me it seems to stem from the filewatcher and its call to comskip

    hope this helps some, please let me know if i can provide any more information.. thanks

    This is basically what I talked about in my last thread when I was using comskip.  The reaction of the called comertial skipping application is different (comskip and SA), but I think its basically the same problem.  The way the apps are being shelled somehow changed.....even if Andy didn't make a change.  I certainly dont have an explanaition, but something is different.

    Re: continued 1.1.0.6 problems...

    First line indicates the number of frames in the show and the framerate times 100

    Then per line the starting and ending frame number of each identified commercial separated by a TAB character

    Example:

    FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE  57514 FRAMES AT 2997
    -------------------
    4293    5286
    10330    13156
    39386    40139
    43463    44365
    51885    57515

    I will have to uninstall and put 1106 back on and switch it back to comskip now that I own SA.  Should be able to do it tonight or tomorrow.  Is there any SA output you would like to see as well?

    Re: continued 1.1.0.6 problems...

    Upgraded and did some tests..

    showname.txt - empty

    showname.logo.txt - Has text representation of logo in it

    showname.log:

    InputFile=F:\Recorded TV\spongebob squarepants_nik_13_04_2007_20_00_08.dvr-ms
    Processing actions, this may take some time!!
    Testing "Processed Files"
    Testing "Every File"
    "Every File" is a match.
    Profile = nativecommdetect
    ProcessId = 3280
    DvrmsToolbox Version: 1.1.0.6
    Throttle DVRMStoMPEG
    FWThrottle: F:\Recorded TV\spongebob squarepants_nik_13_04_2007_20_00_08.dvr-ms
    Waiting to process file
    Queue file
    Duration = 00:00:01
    Waiting to process...
    Processing now...
    Find Commercials in file
    Using comskip
    Running comskip this may take a while.
    Shelling 'C:\Program Files\DVRMSToolbox\Applications\comskip.exe "F:\Recorded TV\spongebob

    squarepants_nik_13_04_2007_20_00_08.dvr-ms" '

    DVRMSFileWatcher.log:

    -------------------------------------------------------
    Start: 10/6/2007 7:17:40 PM

    FW Begin Process F:\Recorded TV\spongebob squarepants_nik_13_04_2007_20_00_08.dvr-ms

    Kill comskip.exe from task manager...showname.txt removed, showname.logo.txt remains,

    DVRMSFileWatcher.log stays the same, and showname.log now looks like this:

    InputFile=F:\Recorded TV\spongebob squarepants_nik_13_04_2007_20_00_08.dvr-ms
    Processing actions, this may take some time!!
    Testing "Processed Files"

    Finished Commercial Detectection
    No commercials found
    Action did not complete successfully
    Total Duration = 00:07:17.9375000

    Now rebooted and switched to SA.  Very strange things happening under SA.  One show processes fine.

    Then do it again and it processes and says no commertials.  (I removed the XML that was created

    under 1105 so I KNOW there are commercials.)  Then I do another file and I get this output in the

    log:
    InputFile=F:\Recorded TV\stargate sg-1_scifi_31_08_2007_15_58_04.dvr-ms
    Processing actions, this may take some time!!

    No commercials found
    Action did not complete successfully
    Total Duration = 00:00:02.2031250

    It didnt even TRY to do anything.

    I just checked the event viewer and I am also getting some of these errors in the Application log

    (Source DVRMSToolbox, EventID 0):
    PW Exit: System.InvalidOperationException: No process is associated with this object.

    Just switched back to 1105....all working well again, but just wanted to say that the Event Viewer error in my last post also shows up when running 1105.  Seems to occur after each completion of an instance of DVRMStoMPEG.exe.

    Re: continued 1.1.0.6 problems...

    Ok....I think SA problems are SA and NOT DVRMSToolbox.  (Comskip IS still and issue for me under 1106 though.)

    I decided to upgrade SA to 090 but running with DVRMSToolbox 1105.  Some files are processing fast and getting good XMLs.  Other files are taking FOREVER and the log shows the percentage processed starting over and over.  I upgraded it again to the 091 beta, and seeing the same kind of thing.

    Im going to revert back to the .8.x code and see if things clear up....but Im sure it will be fine.

    Re: continued 1.1.0.6 problems...

    One more word of advice.....never ever move 48 (ie lots) of files into the monitored directory all at the same time.  Memory util through the roof and DVRMStoMPEG.exe's will start crashing.  I thought it would work since when I drop 5 at a time they queue up properly.

    Also...seems SA .8.12 also does the start over thing once in a while too.  Oddly...not on the same files as .9.x.

    Re: continued 1.1.0.6 problems...

    Last post tonight....promise.  Since I was seeing SA start over and over I decided to reboot, cleanup. and try the SAME EXACT file all by itself...no other DVRMStoMPEG's pending.  It processed PERFECTLY without restarting.  Im not sure why, but it seems if multiple DVRMStoMPEG's are running they somehow interfere with each other.  (Just an observation....but seems to hold true.)

    I have two tuners and often record 2 shows at the same time that end at the same time.  I have noticed that once in a while these shows will not have a XML when I go to play them at a later date.  What I am seeing would explain this.  Maybe the queuing system needs to be looked at?  This is easy to replicate.....just move a bunch of files into a monitored folders and see all the DVRMStoMPEGs spawned and then want the file(s) process.
