    1.1.0.6 comskip issue...

    Ok...I know I sent a premature post about having issues with 1.1.0.6 before, but I've worked this new problem on and off for the last week and can not get anywhere with it.

    Ive installed 1.1.0.6 and the plugin is working great.  File Watcher also seems to be working great.  Comskip is not working so great.  I can see in the log that file watcher fires off comskip, I can see a couple of files created in the same directory with the dvrms file (a txt logo file and a 0 byte file).  I do not get any XML file when complete and the two files just sit out there in the same directory as the dvrms file.

    Am I missing something?  Through the GUI, my configuration is the same as 1.1.0.5.  If I uninstall 1.1.0.6 and install 1.1.0.5 everything works fine.  I've even tried a fresh install of the OS and it made no difference.  I know a lot of people use show analyzer, but Ive had such good luck with comskip I don't bother with it.  Maybe comskip in this new release is broken?

    Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Re: 1.1.0.6 comskip issue...

    output_btv is equal to 1 in the ini.  I just compared the ini from 1.1.0.5 and 1.1.0.6 and they are almost exactly the same.  The only difference is that 1.1.0.6 has a line: logo_filter=0.

    I just re-installed again and I am having the same issue.  Any other ideas?

    Thank you...

    Re: 1.1.0.6 comskip issue...

    A little update....I recorded a small 5 minute segment and watched comskip run and worked correctly (took less than a minute to process the file).  Then I just recorded a 30 minute show....comskip started running, using 46% cpu for about a minute and is now showing in task manage using 0% CPU.  I thought maybe the new comskip has issues but tried some experiments....

    I pulled down the latest comskip 79.100 and replaced the one thats installed with 1.1.0.6.  I then modified the ini so output_btv=1.  Same issue....runs for about a minute then 0% cpu.  I left logging turned on and the log shows nothing helpful.

    I then copied the comskip over from the 1.1.0.5 install that I backed up and same problem....runs for a bit and then stops...just sits there using 0% cpu.

    I then uninstall 1.1.0.6 and install 1.1.0.5 and try it again.  Works fine.  Comskip runs, comskip ends, XML written.

    I then upgrade comskip in 1.1.0.5 to one included with 1.1.0.6.  Again it works fine.

    I then upgrade comskip to latest 79.100....again works fine.

    Seems....at least on my system that something in 1.1.0.6 is screwing up comskip.  Any thoughts?

    Thanks for the support!

    i don't know how it could, comskip is a completely separate application.

    Sorry I can't help you but I have the exact same problem.  I had an older version and installed 1106 the other day.  Everything installed fine but no commercialxml files. I also get the "xxx.logo.txt" file and the "xxx.txt" file in my RecordedTV folder.

    Event log shows DVRMSToolbox starting up and no other errors. I'm turning on additional logging now....we'll see if gives any info.

    No answer, but I did find this thread of someone having the same exact issue, but with a SageTV plugin.  No solution, but seems like it has been seen before.

     http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=25147 and look down a coupe of posts....

    Was the method by which the comskip is executed change between 1105 and 1106?  How about the way comskip is monitored for completion?  Can someone who normally uses show analyzer go into the setup and and force to comskip and see if they can reproduce this odd behavior?

    Ill keep playing and see if I can figure anything out....

    I'm having this same problem.  Just did a reinstall of Dtb after recently formatting my computer, and now Comskip starts to process for around 30 seconds at 50% cpu usage, then drops to 0% forever (I let it sit for a few hours).  When I tried manually processing the dvr-ms file through a command line it worked fine, no problems, so I have to assume it's something with 1.1.0.6 because it always used to work fine for me with older versions.

    Ok I uninstalled 1.1.06 and installed 1.1.05 and now Comskip will work fine (same version of comskip under both dvrmstoolbox installs).  But now I'm having the mencoder problem that was fixed in 1.1.06  :(  Right now the only way for me to get everything to work is to manually process all of the TV shows with Comskip through a command line, and then let DVRMStoolbox do its thing.  Anyone else figure out a resolution to the 1.1.06 comskip problem yet?

    I have just had time to work on my MCE machine, and found that I have this same issue, Has anyone solved this, or do I just have to run all comskip processes before I can run the DVRMS Toolbox after the fact, kinda defeats the purpose! LOL

    Re: 1.1.0.6 comskip issue...

    No version of comskip before build 110 can process while recording.

     Do you try to process while recording?

    Re: 1.1.0.6 comskip issue...

    By recording, your talking about trying to run comskip on something that is still in the recording process, or trying to run the comskip proccess on an already recorded file, while another recording is taking place in the background, or runinng the comskip proccess on a already recorded file, while MCE has scheduled recordings waiting in the background.

    As for an update, I have now dropped over 50 pre recorded shows onto the comskip icon and comskip ran and created the com.xml files with no problems, but I have still yet to over come the DVRMS tool problem. it still gets stuck no matter how I try and run it. It will find the .xml file for the first file in the directory of 50, but will not find the second .xml file that is associated with the second show that is to be processed, it gets stuck at the comskip part every time. I have tried to remove the comskip or detection process form the main scripts, but this fails, because it never gets passed the xml file and the scripts fails due to fact that it does not know that this file exists. Any ideas?  I have now got xml files, but can not get the DVRMST to strip the com. out of the file. hmmmm  by the way if I run this on a file by file basis , and do not try to process an entire directory, the script, the compskip, and the output work fine....... Very strange huh.   O'...  I try to us the DVRMS watch tool, it only processes the comskip, but never finishes stripping the com.'s out and never writes a final output file to the output directory. I have to go back and again run the DVRMS tool by hand in single file mode.

    By the way here is the command line that hangs the comskip program.

    Shelling 'C:\Program Files\DVRMSToolbox\Applications\comskip.exe "O:\Recorded TV\Inuyasha_TOON_05_10_2007_02_00_02.dvr-ms" '

    Also, if I run this command in a command window it works just fine.

    Do you know where I might be able to get version 1.1.0.5 that everyone talks about that seems to work with comskip correctly?

    Thanks

    Re: 1.1.0.6 comskip issue...

    Same here: since I upgraded to 1.1.0.6 on XPMCE2005. Before all was fine.
    I upgraded to get the FFMPEG to shrink my recordings down to ~20%.

    It will not work when started either by FileWatcher or DTbGUI !

    It does work when started in a batch file, by manually dropping the recording on it.

    It does not work when this same batch file is started by FileWatcher....

    I see the same behaviour in the logs: Comskip is started, uses 100% CPU for about a minute, then stops processing, and sits there forever (=I manually stopped it after 8+ hours).

    Can someone help determine what would be the difference from starting the batch file by hand or by FileWatcher?

    My batch file:

    @echo off
    echo Running commercials removal + ffmpeg, check log after completion.
    set t1stamp=%time%
    echo ======Processing started: %t1stamp% >>%1.Cut2AVI.log
    echo ======  >>%1.Cut2AVI.log
    "X:\Program Files\DVRMSToolbox\DVRMStoMPEG.exe" /if=%1 /of=%1 /act=dvrmscutoutcommercialstoffmpeg >>%1.Cut2AVI.log
    echo ======  >>%1.Cut2AVI.log
    set t2stamp=%time%
    echo ======Processing ended: %t2stamp% >>%1.Cut2AVI.log

    The profile I made is the supplied dvrmscutoutcommercials appended with "Convert file with Ffmpeg" and a delete on "InputFile" commands.

    Hope this helps to get it resolved!

    Edit>> I found another post with similar problems, saying 1.1.0.7 EA solved it (http://babgvant.com/forums/permalink/6407/6859/ShowThread.aspx#6859) Could you please release this to us too so we can test if it fixes our Comskip issue too?
