Requirements:

DTb 1.2.0.8 or 1.1.0.6 (or newer)
iTunes 7.x
FFDshow (Stable Build)
ATI AVIVO codecs.
Convert With Ffmpeg packages (included with DTB 1.1.0.6/1.2.0.9 or newer)

You extract the zipped files/folders right into c:\program files\dvrmstoolbox. This will add the proper files to DTb. You'll then have new profiles called:

Export to iPod using AVIVO - detect and cut commercials, convert with ffdshow and AVIVO, import into iTunes.
Export to iPod using ffmpeg - detect and cut commercials, convert with ffmpeg, import into iTunes.
Export to iPod using mencoder - cut and convert with mencoder, remux with ffmpeg, import into iTunes. (Set ShowAnalyzer to output .EDL and be sure to set the EDL path in the profile!)

Convert with Ffmpeg

Following up on my post yesterday. I wrote an action that makes using ffmpeg to convert dvr-ms files much simpler.

It uses a similar method of defining profiles. although in an xml format, to pre-define the video and audio properties ffmpeg will use to convert the file.

To use the new action

Verify that you have DTB 1.2.0.8 installed
download this file and extract it to the install directory for DTB, usually c:\program files\dvrmstoolbox, (make a copy of Durrant.Plugins.dll first in case you need to roll back); use folder paths when extracting. It contains a new build of Durrant.Plugins.dll and a copy of ffmpeg.conf that will be placed in Applications\ConvertFfmpeg.
Download a post r9976 build of Ffmpeg (find one here)
Extract ffmpeg to ConvertFfmpeg (created in step 2)
Use the action like any other

Fun with AVIVO

1) Download the Avivo Video Converter, it's labled as an ATI only product but since we're only going to use the direct show filters and not the application it doesn't matter what video card you have.

2) Download this zip file, and extract it to the Dtb install directory. Profiles and grf files are included to convert to mpg, divx, and H.264 formats.

3) Give it a try in the gui, use the "convert to mpg with avivo" profile for e.g.
