Please please please tell us of your experiences with this device and if/how toolbox like functionality can be applied to this hardware and digital cable recordings.

I'm feeling uncomfortably stuck with ugly analog cable because toolboxed videos (commercial removed, sometimes transcoded for mobile use) are one of my top priorities in my TV experience. I'm wrapped in a MCE/360 extender/Windows mobile hardware environment and see no way to transition to digital cable without losing the flexibility of editing/transcoding my recordings.

Does this mean that development on DVRMSToolbox is kaput?

1.2.1.3 will support Sage, including metadata retrieval and PC evaluation.

I'm working on a way (with assistance from jelwood) to convert the HD-PVR recordings to mpeg so they can be scanned for commercials.  Mencoder supports edl files, so it should be possible to use it to target other formats and remove the commercials as well.

It doesn't mean that development on DTB will stop.  Functionality will continue to be added, with an emphasis on additional flexibility.

Realistically, it does mean that the DTB Addin will probably not get any new features.

For now, I plan to continue to support DTB and it's use in WMC.

Does anyone know if the HD-PVR package from Sage includes the ArcSoft decoders?  I looked on their web page and it wasn't clear.  Babgvant you'll have to let us know when you receive yours.  The ArcSoft decoders seem to be the best with the HD-PVR streams right now.  They were included for free in my package from hauppauge, so hopefully they will also be included in the Sage package.

It should come with Arcsoft TME and some other software.  W/o those it's use would be pretty limited :)

Is it possible that, via the conversion to mpeg for commercial scanning, that the Sage recordings could then be converted to dvr-ms for Media Center (and more importantly) Media Center Extender (xbox 360) support?  Or is there an easier solution?

jelwood,

The HD-PVR box you get through the SageTV package comes with the exact same contents you get if you order directly from Hauppauge so yes it does include ArcSoft TME.

it's certainly possible to convert the files into a 360 friendly format like dvr-ms.  You wouldn't want to use the mpeg created for commercial scanning though, it's only 320x240.
