  • DVRMSToolbox For Vista 1.2.1.1 - Public Release (R4)

Version 1.2.1.1 is now available for everyone.  There was one change b/w the last {EA] release and this one so if you pulled down a previous version get this one to be current.

    Changes:
    - Key handling is only triggered while recorded tv is played back.  Should address sluggish UI issues.
    - More attempts to detect playing file are made before giving up
    - Addin will fall back to using Restart Manager if unable to detect the file using prefered method
    - Changed wording on file can't be detected message to be more accurate given new detection method
    - Waiting to process messages more descriptive
    - Status writing is more timely
    - Fixed a problem with DVR2WMV usage, should [finally] resolve hanging issues
    - Added reprocess functionality to the addin (press 4 on the remote)
    - Fixed meta data not available during recording issue
    - Added FileName to meta data returned, will not be persisted in file
    - Removed dependancy on Toub dll
    - Removed m71 support
    - Migrated all DirectShow code to use DirectShow.Net interfaces
    - Fixed lost status messages when process ends quickly
    - FindCommercials action waits one minute before scanning file.
    - Added ChangeRecordedDate action to MceActions.  Action sets record date to original air date; useful for series recordings on "Marathon" showings
    - Added ChangeMCMetaData action to MceActions.  Alters meta data used by MC to display runtime slider none destructively (i.e. doesn't alter tracking ids); hopefully will allow spliced shows to be managed as series by MC for recording limits.
    - OOTB mpeg "conversion" using DShow method deprecated
    - Comskip 0.79.113 included and configured for live detection
    - Added FixDvrmsDuration action
    - Added resolution meta data attributes
    - Added ConvertToMatroska action to AdvancedActions (uses ffdshow for video encoding; audio is passed as-is, including AC3) requires ffdshow and Haali Matroska filters
    - Addressed localization issue with commercial files (thanks fenschop)
    - Fixed multiple "Navigate to bookmark" messages issue
    - License changed

  • Keeping your QAM guide data

Due to some poor planning I ended up with an extra M780, instead of throwing it on e-Bay I decided to give the beta QAM->ATSC hack a try.  With the most recent drivers the tunning and picture quality have been very reliable, unfortunately the guide data would go away every day or two just like my ATSC data did.  The cool thing is that the same approach for keeping the sub-channel guide data for ATSC works for QAM as well.

    Steps:

    1. Do the QAM scanning as documented in the Avermedia docs
    2. Get out a piece of paper and write down the name of the channels as they relate to the station identifier (35-1 is WLS-DT for e.g.) and the channel number (i.e. 1301).  You will need to count up the channels to get the correct subchannel (the first instance of ch-35 is 1, the second is 2, etc).
    3. Close MC, open up the atscprefs.xml (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\EPG\prefs) and find the channels by major/minor channel and change the callsign and userAssignedName to the correct station identifier.  I used the station id + "-DT", but you may need to play with it a little (omit the "-" if it doesn't work the first go).
    4. Restart the MC service processes
    5. "Add Listings" to the channels like you normally would

  • Keeping your ATSC guide data

After adding a second ATSC tuner a few weeks ago, I started having a problem where my guide data would disappear every day or two.  As you might guess the overall SAF went down in direct proportion to the number of shows not recorded.  After getting some help over at TGB the following approach has kept my guide updated, and the family happy.

    steps:

    1. clear guide: delete prefs files, and epg xml files from C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\EPG
    2. download guide, let it auto map all the atsc channels; it's very important to just let media center think it knows best at this point don't do any unnecessary mapping yourself, that will be addressed later
    3. manually add 1091 with proper physical channels and name (WGN); the atsc channel data is wrong when it comes down initially
    4. manually add sub channels 5-2, 7-2, 7-3, 11-2, 11-3, 11-4 and map guide data where available
    5. hide 1191
    6. manually add sub channel 11-5 as a placeholder in the atscprefs.xml file
    7. close mediacenter, shutdown mediacenter services
    8. edit atscprefs.xml changing channel 11-5 callsign to "WTTWDT", userAssignedName to "WTTWDT", and minor to 1; in Chicago 11-2 is the equivalent of 11, not 11-1
    9. edit atscprefs.xml change channel 11-2 callsign to "WTTW", and userAssignedName to "WTTW"
    10. restart mediacenter services

I did not have to hide the original 11-1 from atscchannels.xml; media center did that automatically, it also automatically assigned the correct guide data to 11-2 and 11-1 when it started back up.

Thanks to Richard A Miller and dmagerl for working this out with me.

    Update: Posted a x64 rev

  • I need a favor; probably from someone at Microsoft

I'm having some trouble with the WM ASF Writer that's included in Windows Media Format 11.  It doesn't accept WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE and the workaround available in the previous version no longer works with the writer throwing a memory error.  Fixing (or working around) this issue would greatly simplify the creation of WMV HD files, and who doesn't want that :)

I don't know anyone in the WMF product group, but I'm hoping someone out there does (maybe indirectly), that could help me out.
